*_______________________________________________________________________* ** *Techniclean AD* * *** *________________________________________________________________________________* */Scale Remover/* DESCRIPTION Castrol Techniclean AD is a magenta, free-flowing crystalline powder based on sulphamic acid. This is readily soluble in water to give an acid solution. The product contains corrosion inhibitors, wetting agents and a pH sensitive colour indicator. APPLICATION Castrol Techniclean AD corrosion inhibitors afford good protection against corrosion of mild steel, stainless steel, copper and nickel alloys. Contact with aluminium, zinc and galvanised metals and magnesium is to be avoided. Successful scale removal is best achieved at temperatures around 60ºC. Maximum temperature should not exceed 80ºC. Descaling may be accomplished using a 'fill and soak' method or, preferably by circulation methods as this avoids local depletion of the acid concentration and also assists the removal of weakly bound scale. Successful scale removal may be achieved at ambient temperatures but agitation by air hose is recommended. Do not allow acid solution to remain in equipment for more than 24 hours. Easy monitoring of the concentration of the solution is facilitated by the integral pH indicator. When Techniclean AD is dissolved in water a purple solution is produced. As the acid is consumed by dissolving the scale, the pH of the solution will rise until, when approximately 85% of the acid has been consumed, the colour of the solution changes to orange. At this point further acid may be added or the solution drained and a fresh charge added. When a stable red solution is obtained or when gas evolution has ceased removal of scale is complete. After scale removal systems should be thoroughly flushed with water to remove any residual acid. It is safer to use and handle than strong acid liquid products The following concentrations are recommended * Normal concentration (10kg per 100 lt water), Mild scale, large systems (5kg per 100 lt water) Heavy scale (15kg per 100 lt water) FEATURES BENEFITS S Corrosion inhibitors S Affords good protection against corrosion of mild steel, stainless steel, copper and nickel alloys S Integral pH indicator S Ease of monitoring pH of solution *________________________________________________________________________________* TYPICAL PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Appearance Damp Magenta Powder Foam - 10% solution @ 80ºC No foam USES Techniclean AD solutions may be used for insitu cleaning of marine plant such as:- * Evaporators * Feed water heaters * Cooling systems * Heat exchangers * Boilers * Steam generators *________________________________________________________________________________* *________________________________________________________________________________* *________________________________________________________________________________* *Health, Safety and Environment; Health, Safety and Environment* Health, safety and environmental information is provided for this product in the Materials Safety Data Sheet.
