DESCRIPTION

Castrol Honilo 401 is suitable for honing operations on cast iron, deep
hole drilling and boring, and for duty on small automatic lathes. Also
useful as dielectric in spark machining.

APPLICATION

Freshly machined, cast iron surfaces display considerable reactivity,
and production honing of such material demands properties in the
lubricant which are not found in many cutting fluids. Principally, the
problem is one of maintaining the honing stones in a completely
free-working condition despite the quantities of finely powdered iron
produced during the process. This readily conglomerates into a
grease-like substance, which causes clogging of the abrasive material of
the stones.
