*_______________________________________________________________________* ** *Clearedge EP* * *** *________________________________________________________________________________* */Soluble Cutting Fluid/* DESCRIPTION Castrol Clearedge EP 284 is a high performance nitrite free soluble coolant for general machine shop use. Clearedge EP 284 is suitable for a wide range of machining operations on most common engineering materials including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless steels and ceramics. APPLICATION Castrol Clearedge EP 284 has proven successful in applications as diverse as turning on multi-tool and automatic lathes, drilling, reaming, profiling, milling, threading with preformed cutters and grinding by surface, cylindrical, centreless and creep-feed techniques. FEATURES S The proven versatility of Clearedge EP 284, performing a wide range of machining operations on a range of engineering materials, allows for rationalisation of coolants in the machine shop, reducing the number of cutting fluids required. S The formulation of Clearedge EP 284 is very tolerant of water hardness, giving stable emulsions in both soft and moderately hard water. However, if water supplies are found to be in excess of 250ppm total hardness we would recommend that they be treated to soften the water before making up emulsions. S Clearedge EP 284 will emulsify normal quantities of tramp oil which might enter the coolant system without any instability resulting - giving longer coolant life before replacement is required. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION For maximum service life, coolant systems should be cleaned and sterilised by treatment with Castrol System Cleaner before changing to Clearedge EP 284. Treatment entails the addition of approximately 1% System Cleaner to the previous charge of coolant the day before it is due to be discarded.
